The Redesigned 2020 GLE!

Within recent years, one thing has become truly clear to carmakers; households are no longer looking to sedans as the go-to vehicle, and instead have shifted their priorities to crossovers and SUVs. Combining the utility of the once popular (and hopefully never again) minivan with a more unique styling and off-road capabilities, SUVs and crossovers are now more popular than they’ve ever been. For years now, Mercedes-Benz has answered that call with a wide range of SUV models, ranging from the compact GLA to the signature G-Class, but now the mid-ranged offering GLE has seen a redesign; one that at a glance, and a long look, is absolutely astonishing.

In early years, working for Mercedes-Benz of Wichita, I’d drive the range of their SUVs and other models, including the GLE’s previous moniker, the ML. Comfortable, wonderful, but something was missing that the new 2020 GLE has found: Excitement. Signature exterior features still remain on the 2020 GLE such as the headlamp, grille, and clamshell hood arrangement, but with 5 extra inches to the length, 1 inch to the width, and 3 extra between the axles, the GLE is beefier than ever. New LED headlamps and sharply angled taillights ensure the GLE won’t be missed at night either. Compared to previous years, many of the edges have been rounded out (a style prominent in the Mercedes lineup) to create an appearance that both appears and performs with increased smoothness.

And driving the GLE is just as smooth as the appearance suggests, with new performance and comfort enhancing technology equipped throughout he vehicle. Driven by a 3.0-liter turbocharged, 362 horsepower straight-six engine that pushes 369 lb-ft of torque, as well as the EQ Boost mild hybrid system that can create up to an extra 22 horsepower. Meanwhile, an innovative new suspension system has been built into the 2020 GLE called E-Active Body Control; using 48-volt pumps located at the four corners of the vehicle, height and dampening can be adjusted individually across the vehicle. This ensures that, whether off-road, dirt roads, or asphalt, rain, snow, or shine, you’ll have the best possible ride.

But my favorite change to the 2020 GLE from past models has to be the completely redesigned cabin, including the all-new MBUX system. An elegant interior awaits those who drive the 2020 GLE, with an all-new dash, center console, and 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and touchscreen multimedia display. To improve your driving experience even more, the 2020 GLE includes the Mercedes-Benz User Experience system; simply asking ‘Hey Mercedes’ will activate intelligent voice control of your Mercedes vehicle, creating easy access to music, navigation, interior comforts, and more!

The 2020 GLE is an exciting redesign that we can’t wait to show you at Mercedes-Benz of Wichita, as it captures the motto of Mercedes: The Best or Nothing.
