The Redesigned 2019 Sprinter

The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter has had a long past here in the US, even under other brands, but 2019 has seen fit to revitalize the Sprinter, thanks to a few production changes. And by a few production changes, we actually mean a complete redesign to the past processes by which the Sprinter was produced! Previously, due to an obscure international trade tax known as the ‘Chicken Tax’, light transport vans had exponentially high import taxes, meaning it was unfeasible to even buy a light transport van from overseas.

Although the chickens are no longer taxed at impossible rates, the vans still are, and previously Mercedes had to get around this by building the vans at production facilities in Europe, testing them to meet standards, disassembling the vans for shipping to the US, and finally reassembling them at a plant in South Carolina. However, the South Carolina plant has been built up and can now handle full production of the vans, meaning lower prices and easier access for Sprinter vans.

But even more importantly, the 2019 Sprinter has seen fantastic redesigns both in and out of the vehicle. Modernized with exterior LED lighting and slimmer headlights, as well as removal of excessive ridging along the front, sides, and rear of the Sprinter ensures a slimmer, sleeker look. Moving to the interior, the quality and layout of the Sprinter have been brought in-line with Mercedes standards; circular air vents signature to the Mercedes line and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment center showcase Mercedes quality. Meanwhile, a plethora of USB ports and cup holders ensure that, whether used for utility or family, that all passenger needs are met.

One of the newest and most unique features though on the 2019 Sprinter includes the addition of the MercedesPro telematics system, available for fleet consumers. The MercedesPro system allows anyone with the smartphone app to monitor fuel levels, upcoming maintenance, and even whether or not the doors were locked, all from their phone. Although simple and straightforward, Mercedes is happy to work with any fleet consumers to custom tailor the system for any needs possible.

Now American-made, with Mercedes-Benz quality parts, the Sprinter van is an extremely utilitarian workhorse, capable of handling long hauls, bad weather, and anything else you can throw at it. Available now, stop in at Mercedes-Benz of Wichita to check it out!
