Major Price & Production Changes: What’s Next for the Mercedes-Benz EQ Lineup?

At Mercedes-Benz of Wichita, we know many of our customers are closely watching the evolution of the electric vehicle market—and few changes have been more dramatic than what we’re seeing right now with the Mercedes-Benz EQ lineup.

In response to shifting U.S. tax credit regulations and evolving EV demand, Mercedes-Benz has launched significant price reductions across its electric lineup for the 2026 model year, making this an unprecedented opportunity for those considering a luxury EV.

 Price Changes Across the EQ Family

Starting with the 2026 model year, Mercedes-Benz has adjusted pricing across the EQ range:

• EQE Sedan:
  From $76,050 → $66,100

• EQE SUV:
  From $79,050 → $66,100

• EQS Sedan:
  From $105,550 → $101,140

• EQS SUV:
  From $106,400 → $91,100

This pricing strategy is meant to keep electric mobility accessible and competitive as the U.S. federal EV tax credit is now set to expire on September 30, several months earlier than initially expected.

 Temporary Pause in U.S. EQ Orders

Along with these pricing changes, Mercedes-Benz will pause U.S. production and order availability of the EQS Sedan, EQS SUV, EQE Sedan, and EQE SUV starting September 1. This pause does not affect global production, but U.S. order banks will close temporarily to align supply with current market demand.

This means that if you’ve been considering an electric Mercedes-Benz, now is a critical time to act. Inventory will be limited, and future availability for these models is currently uncertain.

A spokesperson from Mercedes-Benz confirmed:

“We are temporarily closing U.S. order banks for the EQS Sedan, EQS SUV, EQE Sedan, and EQE SUV to align with customer and market demand. We continue to assemble all of these models for global markets.”

What’s Coming Next?

While current EQ production is being adjusted, Mercedes-Benz is already looking ahead to its next generation of EVs, built on the all-new Mercedes Modular Architecture (MMA) platform:

• The all-electric CLA, arriving at U.S. dealerships in late 2025

• Two all-new MMA-based SUVs, with the electric GLC debuting at the Munich IAA Motor Show on September 7, 2025

These next-gen vehicles will bring enhanced range, cutting-edge efficiency, and a new design philosophy that redefines what a Mercedes-Benz EV can be.
